Ninety Three Percent.

Ninety Three percent is how much of the Great Barrier Reef had been bleached in 2016 - a record high. An abstract aerial view of the reef interspersed with vignettes of coral. The coloured coral was then overpainted in off-whites and marine blues and greens, representing the coral bleaching at various stages. As counter intuitive and even heart breaking as it was to paint over hours of work and intricate detail, it conveys the senseless destruction of this magnificent world heritage site. The gold details represents a glimmer of hope that it may be saved before total obliteration.

Painted with bold, thick brush strokes on quality canvas, hooks and wires on the back, it is ready to hang. The sides are painted in thicks coats of antique white, so there is no need to frame.
