About the Artist
Having spent 15 years working in interior architecture and graphic design I had reached the level of senior graphic web designer. In my down time, it was a necessary creative outlet for me to start painting. Ten years later it is still my passion and I am now fortunate enough to work full time in my studio.
My natural inclination for chaotic detail within a defined structure has informed my semi–abstract painting style. I draw inspiration from natural forms of plants, hills, trees and rocks, from both memory and imagined. I am also inspired by the architectural elements in my daily landscape and distilling them into a series of interlocking compositions. Colour, however is the key to everything for me and establishing a colour palette for each new work is my favourite part of the creative process.
I am interested in the brush techniques of both Australian Indigenous artists, post WW2 British abstract painters and the Pointillists. My paintings also reference my fascination with Japanese textile design.
